The first phase of RHS Greenway, a new traffic-free cycling and walking route is now open. There are 50 open-air cycle racks with space for 100 cycles available at Bridgewater. The garden is close to several additional walking routes including the Roe Green, Ellenbrook and Tyldesley Looplines and Bridgewater Way. The full scheme is due for completion in January 2022. The new route is part of a wider £3.2 million scheme which will provide 6.2km of new or upgraded walking and cycling routes linking the garden all the way through to Walkden train station and create connections into the region’s wider walking and cycling network. The Greenway runs along the north of the Bridgewater Canal linking Worsley (via Worsley Court House car park off Barton Road) and Boothstown (via Quayside Close) to RHS Garden Bridgewater, enabling walkers and cyclists to enter the garden direct from the canal towpath. The company works with small and medium-sized businesses taking the leap from retiring owners to employee-ownership. Pizza Shuttle hired New York-based fintech firm Teamshares to oversee the process for transferring ownership to the employees. Having dreamt of owning his own pizzeria since he was young, Gold said the decision to walk away from the business was a difficult one. "When I discovered the employee ownership model, I knew this was how I wanted to transition into retirement – empowering my employees to take ownership and benefit from business growth and success."
